The Pharmacy Network
The Pharmacy Network is an information system that will over time hold a record of all medications prescribed to you regardless of where they are dispensed. Over the next few months, as pharmacies connect to the Pharmacy Network across the province, prescriptions will be added to the Electronic Health Record. Pharmacists may also add other important information, such as any allergies. The Pharmacy Network helps pharmacists and other health professionals deliver better health care, which includes helping to determine which medications are safe to take.

By eventually linking clinics, pharmacies, hospitals and other points of care, the Pharmacy Network will allow better exchange of information and provide your health care professionals with a more complete picture of your medication profile.

Community pharmacies around the province will connect to the Pharmacy Network in a phased-in approach over the course of the coming year. Once a pharmacy is connected, prescriptions filled at that pharmacy will be added to the Pharmacy Network from that point onward, building a more complete patient profile. Community pharmacies will be the first to experience the Pharmacy Network; in the future, physicians and other authorized health professionals will have access to the system.
